Done.

Finals destroyed me this semester.

But I am done.

The trip to see Colleen was worth every all-nighter.

Posts to catch you up on my life will be coming shortly.

Polaroid Resurrected

The Impossible Project has done it! New Polaroid film should be back in production by 2010!

Here is the announcement via The Impossible Project

The Impossible Project inspires Polaroid to re-launch Instant Cameras

We are pleased to herewith announce a history making cooperation between Polaroid and The Impossible Project:

As we have created quite some buzz about Analog Instant Photography over the past 12 months, the Polaroid licensee - The Summit Global Group - now can't resist any longer and announced at a press conference on October 13th in Hongkong that they will re-launch some of the most famous Polaroid Instant Cameras.

Therefore they are commissioning The Impossible Project to develop and produce a limited edition of Polaroid branded Instant Films in the middle of 2010.

The Impossible Project is proud and excited that its ambitions and all the relentless work that has already been invested are now becoming the foundation for Polaroid's comeback as a producer of Instant Cameras.

Large-scale production and worldwide sale of The Impossible Project's new integral film materials under its own brand will already start in the beginning of 2010 - with a brand new and astonishing black and white Instant Film and the first colour films to follow in the course of the year.

Here are just a few of the polariod (600 film) photos I took back in the day. Sorry, I didn't have a scanner, so I just took pictures of them.

We All Make Misteaks

So... I just made some posters for an event we are having on campus called Hollah-Ween. I made big ones, medium sized ones, and smaller ones to put on doors. They are all over campus. It was going smoothly, and we proofed them a few times. They were printed that same day.

Here it is...

Yes, the event takes place on Satarutrday
The pirate just has a stuttering problem.

I got a good laugh out of it. You can bet I will be proof reading my work 10-20 times before it goes to print from now on.

Life is good. Sometimes you just have to laugh. learn. and move on.

some of the most beautiful things in life happen by accident.

ps. is it "by accident" or "on accident" ? who knows...

50 Days and counting

I just (with the help of my grandma and parents [thanks!]) booked a ticket to Oxford for Thanksgiving break! You know that excitement that just takes over your entire body...how can I explain it? It is like you are a kid again on Christmas eve, except this time there aren't any gifts under a tree, just a big ocean to be crossed and adventures to be had-- which is much better if you ask me.

So, I am Oxford bound.
I will be standing right here in about 50 days!

Heima

Firstly, if you haven't ever heard of Sigur Ros then you need to do that now (but seriously, right now. minimize this window and go here and just listen). Secondly, a few friends (NN, EA, PH, TM, AW) + some other nonBloggers and I watched Heima, a film by Sigur Ros toight. I have owned this film for a few years, and every time I watch it I get all fuzzy inside and just inspired. It was a great night to just enjoy good company and experience God through music and film. Amazing. So to those who have never seen this film, or for those who left early, we will have to have a pt.2... but seriously, let me know if you are interested. Well... that's all. here are a few songs to hold you over.

Simplifying Life

I am what Hauge [a professor at APU] would call A Lifer, someone who has been raised in the church. Consequently, I have built up this mass of Theology, which I try to live out every day. It is mentally draining. I have begun to think to much. Now, don't think I am saying that theology is bad, it is necessary. I had forgotten why I was doing the things I was doing. I was caught up in the rules and routines of life and had forgotten why I was living. Simplifying... That seems to be the only solution. I am trying to get back to the roots of what it means to be a Christ follower.

My faith is not the only thing undergoing a refining and pruning. I have been trying to simplify my art. I just can't get enough of minimalism and simplicity in design. Here are just a few pieces I have found. They are so simple yet the simplicity of the design does not detract from the power of the message.

I challenge all of you to think about why you do what you do... and Simplify.

Obama is Everywhere...

Okay... So, Obama has been our president for a while. I might just be a little late (like a year), but I wanted to share this with you. Whether you voted for him or not... you have got to admit this is pretty hilarious/awesome.

You can "Obamify" yourself. What!?

That's right.

"If you liked the red-white-and-blue look of the Barack Obama “Hope” poster designed by street artist gone viral Shepard Fairey, Dubi Kaufmann has made a plug-in for Photo Booth that allows you to “Obamafy” your photos.

With over 4,450 downloads and counting, just about any photo you pop into it will take on iconic status. Still, Obamafying yourself won’t get you elected. As Kaufmann says, the free app is 'an exercise in pop culture and is not part of any campaign nor it is an endorsement for either candidate.' "

just look here and check it out...

Appreciation

One of my friends recently posted this link in a tweet of his. I decided to check it out, and what I discovered was not only a beautiful story, incredible photographs, and rich writing; I learned something. [ If you are reading this right now and thinking this is just another cheese ball post, just give it a chance. ] I was crying in my apartment by myself, it was so powerful. (this ability to choke up at small things like this comes from my mom's side of the family. My mom and uncle can cry during an infomercial)

How often do we say to ourselves, "I appreciate _____ so much more, now that I don't have ____." To learn to appreciate life as it comes, to appreciate the good and bad times, to be content... It is one of those lessons you have to learn over and over again. So let this be another reminder, to appreciate the ordinary.

Wanted: Sufjan Stevens

Sufjan Stevens, who we all know and love, has been off the map for a while. Sure, this has given us Sufjan lovers a chance to rediscover his earlier masterpieces, Seven Swans, A Sun Came, and dare I say Year of the Rabbit... but c'mon Sufjan. We are dying here. When will you serenade us again?

All this to say, I stumbled across a few things that may sustain us a little longer, as we are all suffering from Chronic Sufjan Deprivation.

The first is a new project that Sufjan has been working on called the BQE. As far as I understand, it is to be taken not as a new album, but more as a soundtrack for his new visual experiments. Apparently Sufjan as been taking a break from his banjo and has picked up his trusty Super 8 video camera.

"Sufjan Stevens premiered The BQE, a film and musical suite exploring New York City's infamous Brooklyn-Queens Expressway, at the Brooklyn Academy of Music's Next Wave Festival in November 2007. The critically applauded performance featured 36 performers including a band, a wind and brass ensemble, string players, a horn section, projected film footage of the expressway and five hula hoopers. On October 20, Asthmatic Kitty Records will release The BQE (also available via Rough Trade in the UK, P-Vine in Japan, Spunk in Australia). "

Here is a live track....

Secondly, I stumbled across this little mash up delight. You will either think it is a desecration of something holy or a fun variation of an already amazing piece of work.

I am not going to give you anymore of a description than that... I think you will be pleasantly surprised.

Daylight stars twinkled
through broad leaves they took their shape

Anticipating The Mainland Return

It is quite interesting to see how much "away from home" starts feeling more and more like home. Freshman year was filled with excitement, distractions, and lots of men (Smith Hall), but I had a much stronger need to go home. With Sophomore year came closer friends, new relationships, and an awakened love for the adventure of being on your own --I am still far from fully independent, but something about living with your best friends and learning about things you find fascinating, fulfills you in a different way... a way that home cannot. Home is a warm, oversized mug of hot chocholate cradled in your palms. College is a thrift store mug full of coffee accompanied by a small home full of friends and conversation. I absolutely love them both.

I will fully enjoy and appreciate my time here looking forward to adventures to be had this coming year.

God is good.

Long time no see.

You know when you make a new year's resolution and end up braking it, but you lack the discipline to hop back on board. Your thought process goes something like this, "Well, I already messed up. I will start back again in a bit."
This is that post. My first step in the right direction.
I have got a lot to say, but we will see if I have got the discipline to do it.

Nice to be back

Discipline

For a while I had the word "Intentional" as the banner on my phone, this has been changed to "Discipline." Now, that is usually all I do about it. Maybe tell someone that I want to be more disciplined or go running once or maybe pray a little more than usual. Even me writing this on my blog is like my down payment to God, saying "I will do it eventually."
We will see...
